At ACHS, one of the values embraced by students and staff is the importance of serving and supporting the community. In November, the Introduction to Foods classes demonstrated this value by giving back through the creation of baked goods. Over two days, with support from the King Arthur “Bake For Good” program, the students turned their culinary skills into an act of kindness.
The King Arthur Baking Company provided ACHS with all the necessary supplies, including flour, yeast, individual recipe booklets, and dough scrapers. These resources made it possible for the students to bake over 55 loaves of bread, which were then donated to those in need. The “Bake For Good” program aims to teach community building through baking while also addressing the needs of others.
This initiative not only offered a meaningful learning experience for the students but also highlighted the power of kindness and community service. The bread baked in class was distributed by the Open Arms Mission, a local organization in Antioch that supports hundreds of families and individuals by providing food and essential resources through donations and volunteer efforts.
Combining service and volunteerism with cooking proved to be an inspiring and enjoyable experience for both students and teachers at ACHS. This event left a lasting impression, encouraging all involved to continue finding ways to give back to the community.
