Sequoits Off to Excellent Start

t is hard to believe we are already creating content for the Winter Edition of Connections. It seemed like yesterday when we welcomed our newest Sequoits (the Class of 2028) to their first day of high school. As November unfolds, we are reminded of the many things we must be grateful for here at ACHS. This season of giving thanks provides us with a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments, celebrate our growth, and express gratitude for the incredible support within our community.

Our athletes have been busy making history and achieving incredible milestones this season! Our ACHS Football team clinched the conference title once again (8 out of the last 9 years) and recently triumphed in their first playoff game. In electrifying fashion, our Girls’ Flag Football team won the regional title with a dramatic last-second touchdown. This achievement is especially meaningful as it marks the first year of the sport here at ACHS! Erin Pasidora and Aubrey Dickey qualified as a doubles team for the IHSA State Tennis Tournament, showcasing their skill and dedication. Senior Rosie Gonzalez qualified to run in the IHSA Cross Country State Championship. Congratulations to all our student-athletes, coaches, and supporters for their fantastic accomplishments!

Sequoit staff and students are off to a great start for the 2024-2025 school year. Congratulations to Brian Vo, Brayden Melott, and Noah Bohn for receiving letters of commendation from the College Board for their performance on the NMSQT last fall. Senior John Stahl was named All-State by the Illinois Theater Association and will participate in the All-State production of “Prom”. Madelynn Soberano, current English teacher and 2016 ACHS graduate, was recently awarded the Nancy Becker Newspaper Advisor of the Year from the Kettle Moraine Press Association. These are but a few examples of many in which members of the ACHS community were recognized for their excellence.

In closing, I want to thank our families and community members. Your partnership, encouragement, and involvement enrich our school and help ensure every student receives the guidance and resources they need. We appreciate all the ways you show up for our students and our school, making it a better place for all.

Once a Sequoit, always a Sequoit,
