Our school community has had an exciting start to the new year, filled with outstanding arts, academics, and athletics achievements. We take great pride in celebrating the dedication and hard work of our students and staff, whose passion and commitment continue to elevate our school’s excellence.
The stage was set, and our talented student performers delivered a show-stopping production of Clue that captivated audiences and judges alike. Their outstanding performance earned them the prestigious Legacy Award for Best Performance at the Illinois High School Theater Festival in January. This recognition highlights our theater students and directors’ exceptional talent, creativity, and dedication. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew for this well-deserved honor!
In honor of Black History Month, our school will host the Blues in the Schools celebration. This enriching program immerses students in blues music’s history and cultural significance. This event will culminate in a dynamic concert featuring Win Noll and the Rocking Souls, providing an unforgettable experience for students. Through music and storytelling, this celebration connects our students with the rich legacy of blues, deepening their appreciation for this influential genre and its contributions to American history.
Our student-athletes continue to shine both on the field and in the classroom. We celebrate all of our fall sports teams for their dedication, with special recognition to our Girls Tennis Team for achieving an incredible collective GPA of 4.11 and our Girls Cross Country Team with an impressive 4.02 GPA. These were the highest team GPAs among several fall sports teams that earned academic distinction from the IHSA.
As part of Illinois’ high-stakes testing, our junior class will take the ACT in April, marking a significant transition as the state moves away from the SAT, which has been in place since 2016. This shift is an important milestone, and our staff remains committed to supporting students in their test preparation to ensure they are equipped for success.
From the stage to the classroom to the playing field, our students continue to inspire us with their hard work, talent, and dedication. We are excited to see what the rest of the year holds and look forward to celebrating even more accomplishments in the months ahead!
