CHSD117: Life Skills Academy
By Tanya Karner, Ed.D, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services
In a significant move towards enhancing educational opportunities for students, Community High School District 117 is proud to announce the new home of the Life Skills Academy (LSA), also known as the Transition Center. The Life Skills Academy will be located in the south wing of the former Antioch Township space which was recently vacated and repurposed for this exciting new chapter at 1625 Deep Lake Road.
After extensive discussions and planning, the district’s facilities team and IT department have worked tirelessly to transform the space into a vibrant and conducive learning environment. The new location offers a fresh and bright setting designed to meet the specific needs of Life Skills Academy students, ensuring optimal conditions for growth and learning.
Community High School District 117 looks forward to showcasing the newly designed space during its grand opening in the fall to the Board of Education and the broader community. This addition aligns to the Portrait of a Graduate competencies and underscores District 117’s unwavering commitment to providing a supportive and effective educational environment for the district’s students.
As the Life Skills Academy prepares to settle into its new home, Community High School District 117 invites stakeholders to stay tuned for updates and to join us in celebrating this promising journey. The move marks not just a physical relocation but a significant milestone in the district’s ongoing efforts to enhance educational services and opportunities for all students.
