Boys Cross Country
Boys Cross Country had another very strong season. Regular season highlights include placing 4th in the Lake County Invite, 14th at First to the Finish, 9th at the Warren Invitational, and 1st at the Lake Mills, WI Invitational. Lakes placed 1st at the NLCC Invite and carried that momentum into the state series. At the Lakes regional, the boys placed second and the entire team moved on to the Kaneland sectional. Sectionals was another great day for the team, as they placed third overall and qualified for state as a team. At the state meet, the team placed 9th overall (highest Lakes’ finish ever) and Jackson Summy placed 7th, to earn All-State honors. In addition, Jackson set the school record with a time of 14:41.6!
Girls Cross Country
Girls Cross Country ran well at the dual meets and invitationals throughout the year. Hannah Salbilla and Bri Gara advanced to the Kaneland sectional, after Lakes placed 8th at regionals.
Football
Football had a season record of 2-7, recording victories over Vernon Hills and Round Lake, and showing improvement as the season went on.
Girls Flag Football
The inaugural Girls Flag Football season was a great addition to District 117 athletics. The Eagles played a difficult schedule and yieled an18-3 record and the first-ever NLCC girls flag football title. The team became regional champions by defeating Hononegah and advanced to sectionals. At the Harvard sectional, the ladies advanced to the final by defeating Antioch, but were defeated by eventual state runner-up Rockford Guilford. Congratulations as well to Emily Ovaska, who was selected to the IHSA All-State Flag Football (2nd Team)! We are very proud of Emily for receiving this honor!
Boys Golf
Boys Golf followed the lead of the girls golf team and were conference champions, as well! After putting together a record of 10-0 in conference, medalist Brady Cross and the Eagles won the NLCC Invite to end the regular season. In the state series, they placed 4th as a team at the Vernon Hills regional, missing the sectional cut by one stroke. Brady Cross, Henry Samulak, and Corey Anderson qualified for the Kaneland sectional as individuals, with both Cross and Samulak advancing to the state tournament. Cross finished his sophomore season 16th in state and Samulak concluded his senior year with a 65th place finish!
Girls Golf
Girls Golf won the NLCC title for the second consecutive season and for the third time in four years! The Eagles made their way through the dual meet season with a perfect 11-0 record, and carried that momentum into the NLCC Invitational, where Maia Becker’s first place finish led the Eagles to a 15-stroke victory. Lakes continued their strong team play with a third place finish at the Antioch regional and qualified the entire team to sectionals.
Field Hockey
Field Hockey continued to improve as the season progressed, finishing the season with a record of 3-14-1. The Eagles opened the year with a win over DePaul College Prep and picked up wins later in the year over Divine Savior Holy Angels and St. Viator.
Boys Soccer
Boys Soccer finished their season with a record of 5-12-2, picking up four of those victories in the month of October. Lakes defeated Antioch in the regional quarterfinals, but saw their season end at the hands of Prairie Ridge in the regional semifinals.
Girls Tennis
Girls Tennis had another successful season, with an 8-5 dual record. As host of the Lakes Invite, as well as the NLCC Tournament, the Eagles were able to showcase their talents on their home court. Lakes played well in the NLCC Tournament, with Kaylee Anderson and Haley Easterberg placing first at 1 doubles, and Ava Price and Charlotte Romig placing 3rd in 3rd doubles. Lakes competed in sectionals on October 18th and 19th, but there were no state qualifiers.
Girls Volleyball
Girls Volleyball had a regular season record of 19-14 and took 2nd in conference. At the Lakes regional, the Eagles defeated Grayslake Central to advance to sectionals where they were defeated by Crystal Lake South. The Eagles finished with a season record of 21-15.
