FINE ARTS: LCHS
The Lakes Community High School Jazz Ensemble, directed by Elliott Hile, added another accomplishment to its growing list of success by being a featured ensemble at the 2022 Illinois Music Education Convention. It was the first time in the program’s history that a band had been invited to play at the state convention. The audition process includes sending in a recording and description of the overall program and its history. This packet is reviewed by a committee and compared to other submissions as each school’s ensembles are considered for performance. Due to the quality of the recording and the program, our Jazz Ensemble was invited to play at this year’s convention. The group played a demanding and diverse set that brought the audience to its feet for a rousing standing ovation. Congratulations to our students and staff for their hard work and dedication to the art form of jazz, it truly translated into a memorable performance.
