Spring Greetings!

33

With the end of the school year in sight, we have reached a bittersweet season. This is the time we get to celebrate many of the accomplishments our students have been working towards, yet we will also say, “Good-bye” to our seniors as they leave the Nest.

May 2nd was Celebration Day at LCHS, which commenced with the Senior Celebration Assembly and culminated with an hour of “being a kid” including bouncy houses, food trucks, a cultural fair, performances by our Fine Arts students, a school-wide Rock-Paper-Scissors competition, many booths with activities from our clubs and sports, and MORE. In the spirit of celebrating our 20th anniversary, we added two new recognitions for our seniors. The Troy Parola Award was created to honor the impact left by Lakes Community High School’s first athletic director, Troy Parola.  Troy was one of the foundational pieces of our school, and every Lakes athletic accolade over the years can be traced back to Troy’s work and influence. We are proud to recognize these senior student-athletes who embody Troy’s vision: Jia Singh, Bryan Memenga, and Brayden Thornton. For Activities, the Mark Ring Award highlights the impact left by Lakes Community High School’s first activities director, Mark Ring. Mr. Ring’s passion for creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for all students at Lakes has left an indelible mark on Lakes’ clubs and activities. Mr. Ring was an original Eagle who fiercely advocated for our clubs and activities until his retirement last year. In honor of his legacy, we are proud to give this award in his name to Ellie Lill for her unwavering dedication to the German Club.

Also in May is Teacher Appreciation Week from the 5th through the 9th. I believe every adult in the Lakes Community High School staff is a teacher and am most grateful for the opportunities they provide to our Eagles to become their best selves with experiences to Live, Learn, and Lead. In this season of celebration, please join me in honoring our LCHS staff, the Class of 2025, and all LCHS Eagles!

With Gratitude and Eagle Pride!
