New Digital Broadcast Communication Plan Announced

246

One of the goals of our new strategic plan is to evaluate and enhance the way we communicate important news and updates about our schools, students, and staff to maximize appropriate visibility.

Understanding that our community is diverse and that everyone has unique preferences for how they receive information, we aim to focus our communication efforts on appropriate channels that most people will see. Whether it’s celebrating our students’ achievements, sharing updates from our faculty, or announcing upcoming events, we want to ensure that our messages reach you in the most accessible and preferred manner.

We heard you
This plan results from our communication survey of students, families, and community members from April 4-18, 2024. Thank you for your responses!

We will go to where you are
We want you to know that we aim to communicate to you on the channels you already see and prefer, not make you go to a new place.

Regular, direct emails are preferred
The most preferred and viewed channels are our two school email newsletters (ACHS Sequoit Weekly & LCHS News From the Nest) and our monthly superintendent “5 Minute Update” email newsletter. These emails are viewable to anyone under “Quick Links” at the ACHS & LCHS websites.

Social media will be only for non-essential sharing
Our survey results showed mixed opinions about social media with respect to appropriateness and visibility. Social media platforms ranked in the following order: Facebook (highest), Instagram (second highest), and X/Twitter (lowest).

Our plan going forward
1. We will enhance the email newsletter at each school to ensure they are a “One Stop Shop” for the information our students and families need. These will be our #1 priority.

2. Some staff and student organizations will still use social media for its value for networking and visibility (college recruiters is one example), but it will not be used as a primary channel for essential information for students or families.

Thank you for helping us build this new plan!
