Antioch Upper Grade School (AUGS) recently celebrated the induction of 46 outstanding students into the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) during an annual ceremony held on January 25, 2025. The event celebrated the hard work, character, and dedication of students who embody the NJHS pillars of scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.
The ceremony, led by NJHS Advisor Ms. Amy Guanci, began with a warm welcome from Principal Joe Koeune. Superintendent Aron Borowiak addressed the audience, commending the students for their dedication to academic excellence and community service. The program included a student president speech from Calisandra Caruso, a student reading by several NJHS members, and the traditional NJHS pledge recited by the inductees. A highlight of the evening was the Rose Ceremony, symbolizing the commitment each student makes to uphold the society’s values.
The ceremony highlighted not only the students’ academic accomplishments but also their commitment to serving others and leading by example. Each inductee was recognized individually, stepping forward to receive their NJHS pin and certificate, symbolizing their dedication to excellence and service.
AUGS Principal Joe Koeune praised the inductees, stating, “These students have demonstrated exceptional character, leadership, and a commitment to service that goes beyond the classroom. Their dedication to bettering their school and community is truly inspiring, and we are incredibly proud to welcome them into the National Junior Honor Society.”
NJHS is a nationwide organization that recognizes middle school students for their academic achievements while also fostering leadership and service opportunities. Membership is a significant honor, signifying a student’s commitment to making a positive impact in their school and community.
Congratulations to all the newly inducted NJHS members at AUGS! Their hard work and dedication serve as an inspiration to their peers, and we look forward to seeing the great things they accomplish in the future.
