Antioch Upper Grade School has been recognized with the esteemed Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Division Sportsmanship Award for the 2023/24 school year, a prestigious accolade that celebrates the exemplary conduct and sportsmanship of the school’s students, coaches, and fans throughout the year. This significant achievement highlights the commitment of our school community to fostering an environment of respect and integrity both on and off the field.
The IESA Sportsmanship Award is given annually to one member school in each of the 15 IESA divisions, based on nominations from peer schools. The criteria for this honor include participation in at least five IESA activities, with no ejections or reports of unsportsmanlike conduct involving players, coaches, or fans throughout the school year. Additionally, the overall behavior of the school and community must reflect the qualities of good citizenship and sportsmanship.
AUGS’s receipt of this award is a testament to the positive culture that our educators, students, and community members work hard to uphold. The school will be presented with an IESA Sportsmanship banner, which will proudly be displayed in the AUGS gym, serving as a constant reminder of our collective commitment to maintaining the highest standards of conduct and another reason why we are the destination for so many families!
