Antioch Upper Grade School eighth graders Arya Desai and Alexander (AJ) Skotnicki were recipients of the 2023 Illinois Principals Association Student Leadership Award. Nominated by Principal Joe Koeune, both students were recognized for their academic accomplishments, leadership and outstanding character at the Illinois Principals Association Student Recognition Breakfast on April 27th.
Arya is an organized and dependable student who participates in National Junior Honor Society and serves as Student Council President. Additionally, she is a member of the AUGS volleyball and track team and participates in club volleyball and attends temple studies outside of school.
AJ Skotnicki is a great leader who serves as a positive role model for his peers. In addition to excelling academically, he has been a member of the AUGS basketball team for the past two years, plays on both State and National lacrosse teams, and participates in box lacrosse in the winter. Outside of school, AJ volunteers his time assisting the elderly with yard work and completing small jobs around their homes.
