Bobcat Broadcast: W.C. Petty’s Student-Led Morning Show Roars to Life

The WCP Morning Show hard meets to prepare a week’s worth of morning announcements.

W.C. Petty Elementary School’s student-led Morning Show is a shining example of Bobcat pride and student initiative! Every Wednesday morning, students arrive early, eager to take the lead on their day’s broadcast. Working in teams of three, they handle all aspects of production, from recording and editing to submitting their final clips to sponsors Mrs. Halterman and Mrs. Sosnowski, who then assemble the show.

Currently, scripts are provided to students, but the goal is to gradually hand over the writing and editing tasks, empowering them to fully manage the process. Each show features the Pledge, a moment of silence, birthday celebrations, shout-outs, lunch menus, daily extras like “Today in History,” school announcements, and weather updates. The program’s highlight is the enthusiastic sign-off: “As Bobcats, we roar, together we soar. Goooooo Bobcats!” With the guidance of sponsors Mrs. Halterman and Mrs. Sosnowski, these young broadcasters are learning valuable communication and leadership skills while making a positive impact at school.
