Antioch Community Consolidated School District 34 is thrilled to introduce Mrs. Jodi Lax as the new principal of Mary Kay McNeill Early Learning Center. Mrs. Lax stepped into her new role on July 1, 2024, bringing with her a rich background in education and a passion for fostering a nurturing learning environment for young students.
Mrs. Lax’s journey in education has been marked by her dedication to supporting both students and staff. For the past eight years, she has served as the Assistant Principal at Antioch Upper Grade School (AUGS), where she was deeply involved in the school community. Her collaborative approach and commitment to educational excellence have been evident as she worked closely with teachers, parents, and students to enhance the learning experience.
Before her tenure at AUGS, Mrs. Lax was an Assistant Principal at John Powers Center in Vernon Hills. Her career began in the classroom, where she spent 11 years teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students through the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL).
Reflecting on her new role, Mrs. Lax shared, “I am incredibly excited and grateful for the opportunity to lead Mary Kay McNeill Early Learning Center. I look forward to working closely with our talented teachers, supportive staff, and dedicated parents to create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for our students.”
As she takes on the principalship at Mary Kay McNeill Early Learning Center, Mrs. Lax is eager to strengthen family and community engagement. She believes in the importance of creating a supportive and enriching environment where every child feels valued and supported. Her vision for the school includes a focus on the academic, social, and emotional development of each student, ensuring they build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
“I am enthusiastic about meeting each of our wonderful students and their families,” Mrs. Lax expressed. “Together, we will build a strong foundation for lifelong learning and create a positive, inclusive atmosphere where every child can thrive.”
