Parent Engagement Day: Building Creativity, One Car or Birdhouse at a Time

86

At Mary Kay McNeill Early Learning Center, fostering creativity and building strong connections between families and students is at the heart of what we do. On January 27th, Parent Engagement Day was an exciting opportunity for families to roll up their sleeves and dive into an engaging hands-on activity: designing and building a car and/or a birdhouse!

The session was a wonderful blend of fun and learning. Families worked together to design their cars and birdhouses, using simple materials and lots of imagination. From brainstorming ideas to testing their creations, every step encouraged collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. The joy and laughter filling the room were a testament to the power of learning through play.

During the event, families were introduced to the many benefits of building and designing at an early age. Research shows that hands-on activities like these foster creativity, problem-solving skills, and perseverance in young learners. By working through challenges and experimenting with different ideas, children not only develop key cognitive skills, but also gain confidence in their ability to tackle new tasks.

Parent Engagement Day was a perfect example of how powerful family involvement can be in supporting a child’s growth and development. Seeing families and students collaborate, share ideas, and celebrate their successes together was truly inspiring.

We’re so grateful to all the families who joined us for this memorable day. Thank you for your enthusiasm and for helping us build more than just cars—we built connections and lasting memories!

We can’t wait to see how these young innovators will continue to grow and thrive in the months ahead. Stay tuned for more engaging opportunities to learn and connect at MKM Early Learning Center.
