Abby Glowacki, a 7th grader at Antioch Upper Grade School (AUGS), has had an outstanding Cross Country season, qualifying for the state meet once again. This was Abby’s second year competing, and her dedication and character truly set her apart. At every practice, she was focused, hard-working, and never backed down, regardless of the challenge. Abby’s commitment went beyond just competing—she was also an encouraging teammate, inspiring others on the team with her determination and positive attitude.
Throughout the season, Abby ran in every race, consistently finishing first among the AUGS girls, sometimes by impressive margins. At sectionals, she demonstrated her competitive spirit by securing a spot at state, making it by just 11 seconds. Her tenacity and drive were on full display as she pushed herself to qualify for the prestigious event.
Having experienced the state meet once before, Abby was more prepared this year. On October 19th, she ran a personal record of 14 minutes, despite challenging conditions of 75 degree heat and full sun. Abby’s pride in her achievement is well-
deserved, as she reached a personal milestone while representing AUGS at state.
Abby’s season exemplifies the power of hard work, focus, and the support of a team, making her a standout athlete and a role model for her peer.
