Kindergarten is just around the corner, and thanks to a special visit from our elementary school principals, the future is looking bright for our Mary Kay McNeill Early Learning Center students!
Mrs. Gerritsen from W.C. Petty, Mrs. Burns from Oakland, and Mrs. Johnson from Hillcrest Elementary School recently stopped by to read to the kindergarten-bound students who will be entering their schools next year. This thoughtful visit was all about helping our youngest learners feel excited, comfortable, and confident as they prepare for the big transition to elementary school.
Each principal read a heartwarming and engaging story all about starting kindergarten that had students giggling, listening closely, and imagining the fun adventures that lie ahead. This joyful and meaningful experience helped bring the future into focus, as the principals shared slideshows filled with real-life photos of their schools, including glimpses of the kindergarten classrooms, cafeterias, playgrounds, gyms, and even the school mascots! Students lit up with curiosity as they asked questions, pointed at pictures, and imagined themselves walking through the hallways of their new schools.
By meeting the friendly faces of their future principals, students were able to start forming connections and feel welcomed before even stepping through the school doors in the fall.
With new friendships forming and imaginations soaring, our future kindergarteners are more ready than ever to begin their next chapter!
