Emmons school has been awarded the $2,000 Illinois Schoolyard Habitat action grant through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to install a native plant garden on Emmons grounds. A parent initiated committee is leading an effort to establish the garden for the purpose of providing students with hands-on educational experiences, supporting the local ecosystem, and strengthening the school community. Planning, funding, and site preparation are underway. The garden will feature two dedicated plots and an after school student club will plant the flowers this spring.
