It’s safe to say that this year’s championship victory for GLS came a lot harder than expected.
With a final score 27-26, the Braves have claimed their second Girls-Basketball division title in the past three years. The shot that won the game came from a free-throw with 40 seconds left in the game. Thank you rim for not robbing that shot. Let me tell you, from the stands, it was pure insanity. In the GLS “student section,” the group of students was most likely louder than the rest of the gym combined. Not to mention, the win might have been partially because of all the cheering.
At halftime GLS was down 19-8. I don’t know what Coaches; Juszczyk, Katie, and Ross said at the break, but it worked. The Braves came out of the locker room fired up, ready to go make a huge comeback. I’m also pretty sure that this was probably the most dramatic comeback for GLS, all-time. It was insane, and the dog-pile at the end of the game on the court was the finishing touch.
So the next time you walk into GLS, and past the Athletics-office, make sure you look for not one, but TWO trophies sitting on the ledge. So great job Lady Braves. Let’s get another one next year!
