S
ummer kicks off in a big way for Antioch, starting on Thursday, May 29 with the Taste of Summer Festival at the William E. Brook Entertainment Center (aka the Bandshell). Hosted by the Antioch Chamber of Commerce, this 4-day celebration offers a sumptuous weekend full of everything that makes Antioch authentic by nature including local fare, live music and more.
But that’s just the beginning! We are thrilled to invite you to join us at Sequoit Creek Park in downtown Antioch for an unforgettable summer filled with joy, laughter, and community spirit! Every Saturday from 12-2 PM starting June 1, families can immerse themselves in a variety of free activities designed to bring people together. Experience the serenity of family yoga sessions, be mesmerized by enchanting magic shows, enjoy captivating storytelling, and groove to the tunes of talented musicians. The vibrant atmosphere at Sequoit Creek Park is perfect for creating lasting memories with your loved ones, and best of all, there’s no registration required! Come as you are and be part of our inclusive community where everyone is welcome to join in the fun.
Antioch’s newest park is also now home to the Antioch Farmers Market, returning on June 19. Held from 3-7:30pm each Thursday, the weekly market features fresh produce and handmade goods and products made by local artisans. With the Food Truck FEASTival rolling into town on the third Sunday of the month June through August and premier shops and restaurants at your fingertips, weekends on Main Street just got a lot tastier! Prospective vendors may contact Event Specialist Kelley Crimmins at 224-788-4423 or kcrimmins@antioch.il.gov for more information.
For all those music lovers out there, get ready for an electric lineup at Antioch’s annual It’s Thursday Summer Concert Series at the Bandshell. Enjoy an evening under the stars with friends, family, and neighbors each Thursday at 7 p.m. complete with food/drink vendors and plenty of dance space. This year’s lineup hits all the genres, from funk and country to pop, classic rock, and more, making for a perfect way to break up the workweek.
The Village of Antioch is home to many veterans across multiple generations. Therefore, it is my honor to welcome the Wall That Heals to our community this summer. This Vietnam Veterans Memorial Replica and Mobile Education Center will be on display for free public viewing July 17-20 at Tim Osmond Sports Complex. Join us in honoring their service and sacrifice this summer! Visit the Chamber’s event page at www.antiochchamber.org for complete details.
Something else on my to-do list this summer is to work on my golf game in defense of our title at the Antioch Chamber of Commerce’s third annual Mayors’ Cup Challenge in August. The Mayors’ Cup Golf Outing is an opportunity to come together as community leaders, enjoy a day on the golf course, and network with one another. The event takes place at the Fox Lake Country Club, one of our region’s most beautiful golf courses. Come out and show your support for your municipality!
We’re here to help you plan the perfect summer in Antioch. Visit www.enjoyantioch.com for your ultimate guide to all things Antioch.

Mayor Scott Gartner
