Warming Up to Spring Events

455

Getting closer to spring and summer is an exciting time in the Village of Antioch!

As the weather warms, our Parks Department becomes busier with events and programming. This summer, I’m excited to bring back Antioch Farmer’s Market events each Sunday from the beginning of June through the end of September. Right now, our staff is busy working to secure vendors for the markets. Our village communications team is preparing an aggressive marketing plan to make sure our Farmer’s Markets are well attended. Our staff is working hard to ensure the market is successful for vendors and enjoyable for visitors.

Summertime also marks the return of our Thursday night concerts at the bandshell. These are always a fun and enjoyable way to enjoy downtown. As of the publication of this newsletter, we’re still in the final stages of booking the bands. A final list of performers will be made available on our village website and social media.

In this issue of Connections, we’re providing an update on a couple of major projects in the village, one of which will have a significantly positive impact on downtown Antioch. First, we continue to move forward with the redevelopment of the former Pittman Property at Main and Orchard. Earlier this year, the Antioch Village Board approved design contracts with the Lakota Group and Strand Engineering. This critical next step in the process of the redevelopment of this property will provide more detail, a better timeline, and a much clearer picture of what the final project will cost.

In February, I hosted the first “Antioch Mayor’s Business Roundtable”. I plan to host these events several times a year. They’re a great way for me to share information about what our community is doing for businesses, and it’s a great way for me to hear directly from the business community about their needs. The best part of the roundtable was hearing directly from the Antioch business community. I look forward to our next meeting!

Finally, I wanted to encourage you to follow the Village of Antioch on social media. There, you will find our most up-to-date information on village news and events. Also, as always, I value your feedback. Feel free to email me at sgartner@antioch.il.gov or call 847-395-1000.

Sincerely,

Mayor Scott Gartner
