It’s an exciting time around village hall. Our Parks Department has been busy planning our summer event schedule. We’re excited to bring back the popular Food Truck FEASTival, starting in May! We’ll also see the return of the Antioch Farmers Market and the It’s Thursday evening concert series in June.
The Village Board has been working hard this winter with the village staff, to make progress in the planning for the new park on the village-owned property at Orchard and Main. Initial work on the site started last fall, with the environmental clean-up of the property. Over the winter, our design team has been working with village staff and the Village Board to plan the various elements of the park, including the splash pad, playground, and pavilion.
I’m excited to share a few of the renderings of the park. You’ll be able to find more up-to-date updates on the village website, as we continue our progress. I expect to see the park completed by early 2024.
Other major projects to watch: Village Hall relocation to Skidmore; Grimm Road project, and a much-needed new Public Works facility. All of these projects are planned and funded through grants and revenue bonds that are paid 100% by business district sales taxes.
Finally, as always, I value your feedback. Feel free to email me at sgartner@antioch.il.gov or call 847-395-1000.
Sincerely,
Mayor Scott Gartner
