E-SPORTS: LCHS
Lakes Community High School is proud to be on the forefront of our state’s newest addition to the IHSA state level competitions. Our E-Sport team made up of Phil Heuser, Eli Bradley, and Justin Kao won their sectional in Rockford for the Rocket League competition and was awarded a trip to the state’s final 16 teams down in Bloomington, Illinois.
There were 12 teams at the sectionals at Rockford Guilford where Lakes went 11-1, nearly sweeping the day to take first place. The top two teams in each of the eight sectionals move onto the E-Sport’s first state finals competition.
The E-Sport team has worked hard to be the powerhouse in the state that they are. Jim Anderson, the coach puts the students through two or three practices a week and an attempt to have as many competitions as possible. Of course the students have worked hard at this game prior to being on the Lake’s E-Sport team but the practice for tactical maneuvers and team work have been vital for their success. Earlier in the year, the team took 3rd in the IHSEA competition that had 87 teams competing in the tournament series.
Congratulations to Phil Heuser, Eli Bradley, and Justin Kao!
