The W.C. Petty Elementary School Student Council has been recognized as a 2024 Student Council of Excellence by the American Student Council Association (ASCA).

The ASCA Student Council of Excellence designation is reserved for schools and student councils that exemplify outstanding dedication to the four pillars of ASCA: community service, student leadership, citizenship, and school spirit. This prestigious recognition places W.C. Petty Elementary School amongst an elite group of schools nationwide, reflecting their unwavering commitment to excellence in student leadership and community service.

Throughout the past year, W.C. Petty’s student council has demonstrated remarkable dedication to serving their school and community. They have organized a variety of initiatives aimed at making a positive impact, from coordinating charitable drives to volunteering in the community. Their efforts have touched the lives of many and have helped to foster a sense of unity and belonging within their school.

Demonstrating a deep commitment to serving others, Student Council partnered with Open Arms Mission to collect over 2,000 pairs of socks for those in need during their annual November sock drive. Through creative fundraisers such as the one benefiting the Midwest Australian Shepherd Rescue, Student Council not only raised awareness, but collected close to 800 items to help benefit the organization.

In addition to their community outreach efforts, W.C. Petty’s Student Council played an integral role in promoting school spirit and character development throughout the school. From organizing school-wide spirit weeks to creating bulletin boards aligned with monthly character traits, they helped to create a positive and supportive environment for all students.

As we celebrate this well-deserved recognition, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the members of the W.C. Petty Elementary School Student Council for their outstanding achievements. Their leadership and dedication are truly inspiring and empowering, and we are proud to have them represent our district on a national level.
