Please join me in welcoming Sandy Allen as the new principal at Thompson Elementary School. Mrs. Allen is not new to District 41. She attended Hooper and Palombi as a student. She also taught fifth grade at Thompson for seven years. Mrs. Allen left Thompson as a teacher to become an Assistant Principal in Round Lake for four years. Most recently, she has been the principal of Spencer Loomis Elementary in Lake Zurich for the past ten years.
“Whether she is managing the changing landscape of teaching and learning in a pandemic, delivering SEL or other programming to staff, or handling a complicated student/parent situation, Sandy is always a strong, effective leader and compassionate colleague.”
Mrs. Allen believes that positive relationships are at the heart of what makes a school extraordinary. She has been described as an outstanding instructional leader who is student-centered and supportive of staff. Her colleagues describe her as a leader amongst principals. Mrs. Allen looks forward to returning to her ‘home’ here in District 41. Likewise, we look forward to her coming on board on July 1st.
