Lake Villa District 41 has embedded explicit, systematic phonemic awareness and phonics instruction into the Tier 1 curriculum. All kindergarten through 2nd grade classroom teachers are using the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness curriculum, and UFLI Foundations for phonics instruction. In addition, Heggerty and UFLI are being utilized to support 3rd-5th grade student needs. Both resources align with the Illinois Literacy Plan which is expected to be approved by January of 2024.
