STUDENT EXCHANGE: ACHS

Students in German language classes at Antioch Community High School participated in a cultural exchange with eighteen students and two teachers from Domgymnasium Verden in Verden, Germany. The German students visited via their host school, Grayslake Central High School. They wanted to come to ACHS to experience German classes in the USA. While German students were here, they met with Antioch’s German 3, German 4 and AP German Language classes and did a variety of activities like tasting pumpkin pie, which they hilariously all disliked and communicated in simple terms, because that’s how Germans are. The students from Domgymnasium Verden also gave a presentation about their school to the German 4 class, and they had fun competing in a vocabulary game on Booklet and participating in an icebreaker speaking activity (pictured) where students had to communicate in German with each other to find students who would answer “yes” to one of the questions on their list. Finally, ACHS’s German students said farewell to their new friends from Verden, but not before they exchanged contact information to keep in touch. They look forward to doing future activities with them remotely! Cultural exchanges like this create memories that last a lifetime!
