The Township is using two locations to provide activities and programs for our Seniors. The Village Center (817 Holbek Dr. Antioch), formerly Senior Center, is a government building that is managed and maintained by the Village of Antioch and the Township Center (1625 N. Deep Lake Rd. Lake Villa) which is also a government building owned and operated through an intergovernmental agreement with High School District 117. Lake Villa Township and Antioch Township.
Antioch Township has allocated resources through a dedicated budget, using a small staff of part-time workers to continue to provide and grow our activities for our seniors. The Village has agreed to allow the Township, the first right, to use the Village Center for the senior daily activities that have been in place for many years. The evening and weekend use of the Village Center is managed by the Village’s Park and Recreation Department on a first come first serve reservation process.
None of the long-term senior daily activities at the Village Center have been canceled or stopped. But a few activities’ times and location were changed due to staffing and other planned uses of both the Village and Township Centers. Over the last 4 years, the Township has added programs and activities without deleting any of the historical senior center activities. We have worked diligently to build up our registration/membership list of seniors from 120 to now nearly 1,000 seniors to improve our communication channels and reach our growing senior population.
