Summertime Is Here!

One of the many things I love about Antioch is the fact that throughout every season of the year, there are plenty of great things to do. Nothing personifies summertime fun more than being in the Antioch area during the summer months. We’re right in the heart of the Chain-O-Lakes. Not only are we close to the water, we also have hiking and biking trails, great shopping, theater, and dining.

Summertime is also the best time to enjoy Downtown Antioch. As we emerge from the COVID pandemic issues over the last couple of years, we’re thrilled to have a full summer of activities planned for our community.

Our second Wine Walk of the year is set for Saturday, June 4th. We had a huge turnout in January for our first wine walk of the year. The January event sold out! For me, the best part of this event is hearing the feedback from people who either have never been to Antioch or who haven’t been to Antioch in a while. They all seem to say the same thing, “Wow, Downtown Antioch seems to keep getting better and better!” This reaction is a testament to the hard work of our local business community that has made Antioch a great place to visit (and live!).

Thursday night concerts at the bandshell are some of the best ways to spend a summer evening with friends and family. This year, we’re doing something new to kick off our summer concert series. We’ve partnered with local radio station 95 WIIL Rock to bring in Utah-based rock band, Royal Bliss along with opening acts Lines of Loyalty and Ignescent. This also happens to be the kick-off to the 95 WIIL Rock 30th Anniversary summer concert series, too. The show is set for Thursday evening June 9th. This first concert will start at 6 p.m., with all other Thursday evening concerts at the bandshell starting at 7 p.m.

Finally, make sure to attend the Antioch Fourth of July celebration! We’ll have food trucks and music at Williams Park beginning at 4 p.m. and fireworks at 9:15 p.m.!

I look forward to seeing you around town this summer!

Sincerely,
Mayor Scott Gartner
