Lakes Eagles Take Flight: From New Orleans Jazz to Normandy Shores

233

Over Spring Break, 74 students, teachers and chaperones from the Lakes Music and Theatre Departments traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana, for 5 days of artistic enrichment, performances and sightseeing. Some of the highlights were: Jazz Band’s performance on Jackson Square, the Choir performance in St. Louis Cathedral, a band performance at the WWII Museum, workshops for band, choir and theatre at Loyola University (New Orleans), attending a cooking class and dinner at the New Orleans School of Cooking, a dinner cruise on the Natchez Steamboat and a swamp tour, complete with gators!

A big thanks to all the community members, parents and administration that supported this trip for our students and staff.

Also during spring break, many Lakes students had an adventure of a lifetime, traveling to Paris, Amsterdam, and Normandy! They explored powerful pieces of history at the Anne Frank House and the Dutch Resistance Museum, and walked along Omaha Beach, where they reflected on the events of D-Day. In Paris, they topped off the trip — literally — with a visit to the top of the Eiffel Tower, taking in the stunning city views. It was a week full of learning, laughter, and memories they’ll never forget!
