Antioch CCSD 34 is excited to welcome our newest learners to the district! To help our incoming students and families prepare for the transition to kindergarten, D34 has organized a series of events for incoming kindergarteners who will be attending Hillcrest, Oakland and W.C. Petty Elementary Schools this August.
Kindergarten Registration
All families are asked to register incoming kindergartners by June 1, 2023. Children must be 5 years of age by September 1st to attend kindergarten for 2023-2024 school year. Visit the D34 registration webpage to learn more. Kindergarten students must have a physical by the 1st day of school, an eye exam by October 15th, and a dental examination by May 15th.
Kindergarten Screenings
Part of the registration process for kindergarteners is attending a kindergarten screening. Links to kindergarten screening sign-up can be found on the D34 registration webpage. Using the information collected at the screening appointment, teachers will have an initial understanding of students’ strengths and areas of needed support, which will help teachers to make all of the students feel as comfortable as possible on the first day of school.
Popsicles With the Principal
Antioch CCSD 34 invites all 2023-2024 incoming kindergarten students to stop by their school of attendance for a social event on June 15th from 1-2 PM. Students can meet their principal and visit with future classmates while enjoying a popsicle on the playground. Kindergarteners will have the opportunity to climb aboard and explore a stationary D34 school bus. For those interested in before or after school care, Champions will be on site to talk with families about their school-based before and after school child care program. Additionally, the Boosters, our parent organization, will be onsite to meet with families. Stop by and learn more about how to get involved as a parent.
Don’t forget to bring your camera, there will be plenty of opportunities to capture those adorable candid shots of your future Kindergartener! We look forward to meeting all our families on the 15th of June. In case of inclement weather, we will move the event indoors. Join us, rain or shine!
