SOCIAL STUDIES: ACHS

The Carson Award recognizes academic excellence and humanitarian efforts of students throughout the country. This award, established by world renowned Pediatric Neurosurgeon and Former Republican Presidential Candidate, Dr. Ben Carson, seeks to draw attention to the laudable qualities of scholarship, hard work, integrity, and self-sacrifice for the sake of one’s community. This year the Social Studies Department was proud to nominate Justin Pedersen for this prestigious award and we are thrilled to announce that he is only the 2nd student at ACHS to be awarded this coveted scholarship from the Carson Foundation.

Ashley Lubkeman was selected by the ACHS Social Studies Department as this year’s ACHS Daughters of the American Revolution Nominee. This annual award is given out by each local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution to recognize a high school senior who possesses and demonstrates the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. Nominees are selected by their teachers and are then invited to submit a resume, essay, and personal statement in order to compete for scholarship money.
