The Grass Lake Braves’ Cross Country team was comprised of three returning athletes from last year’s team and three athletes who were new to the sport of cross country. Over the course of the season, the student-athletes competed in seven races and had great success. Chris Avila placed fourth in the Lakes Region Athletic Conference at Park and eighth at the Class 1A Boys Sectional Meet, with a personal best time of 11:46, which is also a new school record! This qualified him for the IESA State Cross Country Meet! Chris is the first GLS student-athlete to qualify for State in Cross Country! Congratulations Chris! Nick Quist ran a personal best at the conference meet with a time of 15:57. Angela Ortiz had a season best time at the conference meet as well, with a time of 16:54. Briana Stewart, Hanna Michielli and Matthew Sobierajski broke their personal records multiple times throughout the season and each ran their best time at Millburn with finishing times of 16:51, 16:54 and 19:23 respectively. Congratulations on a great season!
