Our very own 8th grader, Salazar Villalpando was the Lakes Region Conference Champion as he took 1st place at the Cross Country Conference Meet held at Park East School Tuesday night. Salazar finished with a time of 11:54 (2 miles). He competed against 36 other athletes from 7 neighboring districts. The following week, Salazar Villalpando finished 4th at sectionals the following weekend and clinched his ticket to State! We were so proud of Salazar as he placed in the top 25% of all competitors during the State meet held the following week. He had a phenomenal season and will be such a great asset as he continues to run when he joins the high school next year.
