Action Outside of School

At W.C. Petty Elementary, learning and student success are a priority, so learning takes place outside regular school hours. Some Petty students have been participating in extended learning opportunities after school each week where they have had additional time to work on their reading and math skills. Additionally, some students will have the opportunity to continue their learning through the District’s Summer Learning Program at Oakland Elementary. This program is being funded through the state’s ESSER funds which are provided to districts in an effort to address the effects of the pandemic.

Outside the academic arena, the Petty community thoroughly enjoyed the return of our in-person music performances that our young musicians have been working on all school year. Other student clubs and activities were also in full swing. The student council ran a fundraiser for the Antioch Traveling Closet and raised over $2,500. Band and Orchestra held in-person concerts as well as before school rehearsals. In addition to these groups, the Diversity Club, Announcements Club and the Bobcat Singers have been hard at work to keep the school buzzing outside the regular school hours. It’s great to be back in action!!!
